In High School, I worked at a pizza joint. In 12th grade, back in 1986, I still remember this guy coming into the restaurant. He sat at a table and as I was bussing other tables, somehow we struck up a conversation. He asked me how old I was, and I told him, that I was seventeen at would graduate in a month. “What are you going to do?” He asked. I told him my parents wanted me to go to this specific college. He asked if I always do what my parents want, and then he said, “You can choose for yourself you know.” This was the first time that anyone ever told me I could do that. At the time, it was weird, I thought, who is this guy? My parents never thought out of the box, they were scared of life and doing anything new or different was not even a question, I will never forget this guy, he gave me permission to think for myself. Nobody had ever done that before. I feel we should urge our children to always think for themselves, because there won’t always be someone there to think for them. “Notice every moment.” Keith
