I remember back in the mid-eighties when I was a teen-eager, I worked at this pizza joint in Texas. One of my co-workers who lived in a nearby town was driving in to work for the afternoon shift day one day and on his way he picked up a gentlemen hitchhiker who's semi had broken down. My friend picked him up and I remember sitting and talking with this guy. He was old, probably thirty (LOL), at my age then, thirty was old. Anyway, he asked me what I wanted to do in my life and I responded by telling him that I wanted to go to college for a business degree. He asked what my father did for a living and I told him that my old man was in retail. The guy responded, "Is that what your dad wants you to do is go to college for a business degree?". I said ,"yes". "You don"t have to do everything your parents want you to do." It was the first time anybody ever told me that I didn't have to do what my parent's wished. My dream was to be a musician and a writer. I became that by the way, with a career in Alcohol and Drug Counseling to fall back on, thank God. It is funny when we are teen-angers, it seems sometimes we do what others, especially parent want us to do in life. In General children should follow their parents advice, but kids should also be allowed to think on their own. -----Kelly

I meditate every morning and I urge everyone to get into this practice. I find it calming , stress relieving, and emotionally cleansing. I generally meditate to practice dismissing negative thoughts. Over the years I have found that it works quiet well. I found that it helps in my writing as also. Sometimes ideas come to me during my morning meditation . Sometimes it helps me to have patience in my writing when I have no ideas. Mediation keeps me grounded. Like I said I urge everyone to meditate. It takes practice and you may not see results at first, but keep trying because it is very helpful and healthy. For those of you that do meditate, what comes to you in your mediation? what do you find helpful in this practice?. -----Kelly
What I like most about writing and what I think other writers like the most is just knowing you can create a character or place or and event that didn't exist ten minutes before. Writing is a sense of power in that you control everything on the page. After time and work when you see that character develop it is an awesome feeling. It is easy to get lost in this fake reality, although very fun and rewarding. Writers are somewhat different I suppose in their personalities, I know I am, but I like how different I am and I like how different other writers are. I love to use my imagination and that's what all of us writers do, I thrive on it, as I am sure you do. So to all my writer friends, keep creating.---Kelly
Earlier this week in Nevada there was another school shooting as I am sure you have heard. A twelve year old this time and a hero teacher were killed. It is common, I know I tend to, to blame the parents. Where were the parents? people often ask. But what if the parents are good parents, who were there for the child and supported him and loved him. Who do we blame then, the kid? keeping in mind he was only twelve. I have no clue. We always feel sorry for the families who have lost in these situations often forgetting about the shooter's parents and other family. They have lost to, lets not forget about them, they maybe wonderful parents. ----Kelly
The Holiday's are once again approaching soon. We will be with our families and there will good food, most importantly sweet stuff. I want you to think about this however, Holidays can be everyday. I see my four year old Grandson every Friday and Sunday. We usually go on a walk on Sunday's and we talk and play and such. "This is the real holiday," every Sunday and Friday for me. Real holidays are spending each evening with your special loved one, seeing a sunrise every morning. I could list many examples as I am sure you can. Holidays are the little things in life that happens all of the time. This is where it really is. -----Kelly
