To whom it may concern,
I have come and gone once again and I will lay dormant in your brain for another year as you and your family and friends go about your daily life and routines. Although, I am happy for the day you gave to me, I am sad that I will be forgotten for the next year. What makes me even more sad, is that some of you only gave me an hour or two as I notice that stores are now having black Friday sales on my evening. The assaults have taken place already as some of you fight for worthless garbage at a Walmart, in preparation of celebrating my buddy Christmas, he will be coming next and you talk about sad, he is very sad of what some of you have become. Oh it is not all of you , just some that do not practice and understand true thankfulness making my job hard. Today is my day of thanks, thanks that Thanksgiving is over and that I don' t have to try to make you thankful when you are not, or busting my ass trying to re route your pre- occupation over useless crap in your life, or pleading with you to stop a minute to think about gifts you have received in life. You are to busy thinking about the 8:00 p.m. television sale at Sears. Until next year when my job will be even harder, take care and thanks to you who are thnkful. Sincerely, Thanksgiving

Schizophrenia is Treatable
Schizophrenia is a chronic, severe, and disabling brain disorder that has affected people throughout history. About 1 percent of Americans have this illness. With antipsychotic medications, schizophrenia symptoms such as feeling agitated and having hallucinations usually go away within days. Symptoms such as delusions usually go away within a few weeks. After about six weeks, many people will see a lot of improvement. Types of Symptoms: Positive Positive symptoms (such as hallucinations, delusions, thought disorders, and movement disorders) are psychotic behaviors not seen in healthy people. People with positive symptoms often “lose touch” with reality. These symptoms can come and go. Sometimes they’re severe and other times they’re hardly noticeable, depending on whether the person is receiving treatment. Types of Symptoms: Negative Negative symptoms (such as lack of pleasure, lack of ability to plan/start/complete activities, and social withdrawal) are associated with disruptions to normal emotions and behaviors. These symptoms are hard to recognize as part of the disorder and can be mistaken for depression or other conditions. Types of Symptoms: Cognitive Cognitive symptoms (such as poor ability to understand information and make plans, trouble focusing/paying attention, inability to use newly learned information to solve problems) are often subtle. Like negative symptoms, cognitive symptoms may be difficult to recognize as part of the disorder. Cognitive symptoms often make it hard to lead a normal life and earn a living. They can cause great emotional distress. Schizophrenics Usually Aren't Violent In fact, most violent crimes are not committed by people with schizophrenia. Substance abuse may increase the chance a person will become violent. If a person with schizophrenia becomes violent, it is usually directed at family members and tends to take place at home. Suicide Risk is High People with the illness attempt suicide much more often than others. About 10 percent die by suicide, especially young adult males. It’s hard to predict which people with schizophrenia are prone to suicide. The Substance Abuse Connection Some people who abuse drugs show symptoms similar to those of schizophrenia. Therefore, people with schizophrenia may be mistaken for people who are affected by drugs. People who have schizophrenia are much more likely to have a substance or alcohol abuse problem than the general population. Some drugs, such as marijuana, amphetamines, or cocaine, may make symptoms worse Help for Everyday Challenges Psychosocial treatments can help people with schizophrenia who are already stabilized on antipsychotic medication. Psychosocial treatments help these people deal with the everyday challenges of the illness, such as difficulty with communication, self-care, work, and forming and keeping relationships. Learning and using coping mechanisms to address these problems allows people with schizophrenia to socialize and attend school and work. Medication Can Have Side Effects Some people experience side effects when they start taking medication for schizophrenia. Most of these effects go away after a few days and often can be managed successfully. They may include drowsiness, dizziness when changing positions, blurred vision, rapid heartbeat, sensitivity to the sun, skin rashes, and menstrual problems in women. Typical antipsychotic medications can cause side effects related to physical movement, such as rigidity, persistent muscle spasms, tremors, and restlessness. Atypical antipsychotic medications can cause major weight gain and changes in metabolism. Medication Compliance MattersSome people stop taking their medication because they feel better or think they don’t need it anymore. But no one should stop taking an antipsychotic medication without talking with his or her doctor. When a doctor says it’s okay to stop taking a medication, it should be gradually tapered off, never stopped suddenly. The older I get, the more I notice changes in myself as compared to when I was younger. In my twenties after college, I wanted a job that paid well, in my thirties, my priority in a job was having good medical benefits, and in my forties my desire in a job is one with a good retirement plan.
Another change, I remember in my twenties in relationships, I wanted a hot chick, I didn't care if she could write her name as long as she was hot. As I have gotten older looks become less important, I want someone with a brain, luckily I have both in my old lady, which is a bonus. Yet another thing I have noticed as I have gotten older, I don't give a fuck what people think about me. when I was younger I always wanted to make a good impression, now I cold care less what anyone thinks. There is actually a freedom in that. Anyway, we age, shit changes, at least for me On a side note, Shop Side my novel should be released very soon through http://www.fountainbluepublishing.com/keith-kelly.html so keep an eye out for that, and also I just finished my second novel, Tomorrow Is August 12th. "Notice ever moment" Keith As we travel through this life, there are periods when we encounter dark places. We feel hopeless, helpless , and we don't know how we will ever get through dark situations. These dark places are actually blessings, of course at the time of darkness, we don't realize it, that comes later. These times are necessary. If there were no dark places we wouldn't learn life lessons. Passing through these dark places help us to get closer to a higher power, helps us to love each other more, helps us to have more confidence in ourselves, gives us a greater appreciation for life. Mainly, it helps us to not sweat the small stuff. Through dark places we learn not to let the little things in life get us down. Dark places make us so much stronger. Think of a tulip, we plant the bulb in the ground in darkness. It grows breaking the surface into the light, and the result is something beautiful, we are the same way, once we break through the darkness, we are beautiful. "Notice every moment." Keith
"Do yo have the key to the room?" This is a very common question among people when they are staying in hotel rooms. We never want to get locked out and have to go to the front desk and get another key. Pay attention to these words the next time you stay in a hotel. As you and your friend, partner or whatever are leaving the room, one of you , or someone will ask, you got the key? But remember when it actually was a key and not a swipe card. Remember when hotel rooms actually had a key to unlock the door. Youngsters under twenty probably don't remember, probably have not even seen an actual hotel room key.
Speaking of keys, we have keys for everything now days, everything is secure, kinda sad really. Remember when mailboxes were actually box at the end of your driveway or hanging on your porch. There was no lock on it, we never even thought about someone taking our mail. Now if you see a mailbox, it is mostly for decoration. It's a shame that this symbol of what once was the only long distance communication is now a decoration. "Notice every moment." Keith |
