Is love something that we need or is it something we think we need? If there was no love, we would survive. I mean it is possible for one to live and not be loved. Not having love in our life isn't fatal, we sure think it is, but really, it will not kill us. Sometimes our wants overpower our needs and we think we need something. The only thing we actually need in life is the basic survival needs such as food water, etc. Everything else we just think we need. From a needs perspective in regards to love and relationships, they both should be something we want not need. As humans, we get the needs and wants reversed often. At times what we need we don't want and want we don't need.
Many times especially in relationships, because of the want to not be alone people settle into a relationship they do not need. To secure this relationship. It seems many people appear to be something they are not. People put on masks. We all do it. We have a mask we wear in front of our families and another at work and even a different one when we are with our friends. Some people do not even know who their real self is. Through my experience, it always seems to work out best for me when I am just myself. It is important to like who you are because if you do, you are more apt to be yourself around others. I call people who act like something they are not, "Fakers." Some people don't do this on purpose, they just have low-self esteem and have to build themselves into something they are not. Be yourself, what's not to like. Remember that many times what we think is a need is actually a want.---Keith
